The Tennessee State University women’s tennis team was defeated 7-0 by Middle Tennessee State University during a road match on Wednesday at the Outdoor Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro.

Middle Tennessee secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. In No. 2 doubles, the Tiger duo managed to tie the match at 4-4 after falling behind but ultimately lost 6-4 as Middle Tennessee closed out the final two games. The Tigers’ No. 3 pairing also attempted to regain momentum after an early deficit but were defeated 6-1.

In No. 1 doubles, the Tigers narrowed an early three-game gap to make it a one-game contest at 3-2 before Middle Tennessee pulled away for the win.

Middle Tennessee maintained its advantage into singles play, winning all six matches against Tennessee State competitors.

At No. 1 singles, a Tiger player fought back to even the opening set at 2-2 before losing it 6-2, and after leveling early in the second set at 1-1, fell again as Middle Tennessee closed out with a score of 6-1.

Tennessee State’s representative at No. 2 singles lost in straight sets, both ending at 6-0. The player competing in No. 3 singles dropped sets by scores of 6-1 and then 6-0.

At No. 5 singles, another Tiger led her opening set by a margin of three games but saw Middle Tennessee rally to take that set and ultimately secure victory in straight sets.
