Vanderbilt baseball loses 5-0 to Alabama in series matchup

Vanderbilt lost 5-0 to No. 24 Alabama on May 1 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The game saw Vanderbilt collect nine hits, all singles, but the team was unable to score as Alabama secured the series win. The Crimson Tide took an early lead with three runs in the first inning and added two more in the third.

Brennan Seiber entered as pitcher during the third inning for Vanderbilt and kept Alabama from scoring over the final five and two-thirds innings. Seiber allowed only two hits, struck out three batters, and issued one walk.

Alabama’s Zane Adams earned the win after pitching six shutout innings. Adams managed to avoid damage despite giving up eight hits and a walk while striking out six batters. Ashton Crowther finished with a three-inning save from the bullpen.

Logan Johnstone led Vanderbilt at the plate by going three-for-four. Rustan Rigdon and Brodie Johnston also had multi-hit games for Vanderbilt, each recording two hits.

Vanderbilt will attempt to avoid a series sweep when they play again on Saturday at 1 p.m.
