Vanderbilt University’s baseball team announced on April 20 that it finished the week with three wins and one loss, improving its overall record to 24-17 and an even 9-9 in Southeastern Conference play.

The team’s performance last week included a decisive win over Lipscomb, followed by a series victory at Kentucky. These results are important as they help Vanderbilt maintain momentum in the middle of their conference schedule.

On Tuesday against Lipscomb, Vanderbilt scored runs in nearly every inning and recorded a season-high of 19 hits. Logan Johnstone led the offense by going four-for-five with a home run and four runs batted in. Rustan Rigdon contributed three RBIs on two hits, while Korbin Reynolds added two more. Ryker Waite collected three hits, and Brodie Johnston reached base five times and scored four runs.

Friday’s game at Kentucky ended in disappointment for Vanderbilt after Kentucky hit a walk-off grand slam in the ninth inning. Despite this setback, Connor Fennell delivered a strong pitching performance with six-and-a-third innings pitched, allowing just one run on five hits.

The Commodores rebounded Saturday with an eight-to-seven win after scoring seven runs in the second inning. Brennan Seiber secured his first save of the season by recording the final out with Kentucky threatening to tie. On Sunday, Will Hampton hit his first career home run—a go-ahead grand slam—in his first collegiate start as Vanderbilt rallied to win thirteen-to-six. Aiden Stillman earned his second win of the year while Tyler Baird closed out the game for his fourth save.

Looking ahead, Vanderbilt will host Xavier on Tuesday before beginning a three-game home series against fourth-ranked Texas starting Friday.
