THE SERIES

The Trojans fell for the third time against the Hawks. The two sides met for the first time since 2018.

Trevecca and Wayne St had never met in volleyball before tonight. The Warriors take the first-ever meeting.

THE FLOW – QUINCY

The Hawks came prepared against the Trojans as they scored the first two points and held a 4-3 early lead. From there, a 5-0 run separated Quincy in the first with a 9-3 lead. The Trojans cut it to five (11-6), but a late 6-0 run closed up the set, 25-14.

Down a set, the Trojans seemingly responded in the early stages of the second. Two services helped Trevecca to a 4-0 lead which quickly turned into a 10-2 advantage. The Hawks turned things around, though, and after a 9-0 run took their first lead at 11-10. After the Trojans tied it at 11-11 but it was all Quincy from there. The Hawks took the second, 25-19.

Still, with a hot hand from the second, the Hawks picked up the first four points of the third to establish control. The Trojans made it a two-point set midway through at 16-14, but Quincy held on for the 25-20 victory, its second of the day.

THE FLOW – WAYNE STATE

Four of the match's first five points went to Trevecca before Wayne State cut into the Trojan lead. With the set tied at 4-4, the Warriors used a small run to create separation, leading 9-5. The Trojans cut it to one point (14-13) before the Warriors called timeout. Wayne State opened up as much as a seven-point lead, 21-15 after the timeout and won the opener, 25-23.

The second set brought a quartet of early ties before a 7-0 run was broken up by Wayne State opening up the set. Despite a Trevecca timeout, the Warriors had done their damage. The Wayne State lead was cut to as few as three, but the Warriors held on for the 25-19 win.

The third set up very similar to the second in the early going. Trevecca gained its first lead at 5-4 before Wayne State quickly pounced back. Midway through the set, a 4-0 run by the Warriors seemed to put it out of reach before the Trojans countered to tie it at 18-18. Trevecca led by two at 20-18 before the Warriors put the Trojans away 25-21 off four straight points.
