Trevecca Nazarene University Women's Basketball Karen Booker Announces Two Signees to the 2023 Signing Class

Karen Booker, the head coach of the Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team, is pleased to announce two signees for the 2023 Trojan signing class. Braley Bushman (Fred J. Page H.S.) and Brianna Burgess (Creek Wood HS) and are the two new Trojans to put on the Purple and White. 

BRALEY BUSHMAN | FRED J. PAGE H.S.

Position: Combo Guard

Studying: Marketing/ Business

High School: Fred J. Page H.S.

Club Team: Nashville Stars

Previous Coaches: Randy Coffman (HS), Tony McLeod (club)

Why Bushman chose Trevecca: "Trevecca shares my values along with my athletic goals. Trevecca values its student-athletes and works towards competing and winning at the highest level. In addition, I could not have chosen a better person than Coach Booker as a role model and basketball mentor. She has been successful in all aspects of basketball. I'm eager to wear the Purple and White and be a part of the Trojan women's basketball program, helping us reach the top of the Great Midwest, vying for a NCAA National Championship."

Coach Booker on Bushman: "We are excited Braley is joining us on the Hill. She is such a strong competitor, and her work ethic will help us build a culture that will help us become a team to be reckoned with in the Great Midwest."

High School Notes: She won the 2022 All-State Tournament, the 2022 All-Region, and the 2022 All-District. She was a three-year Starter, and her team made the 2022 TSSAA Final Four.

Her parents are Rhamey and Travis Tubbs, and her sister is Mazie Bushman.

BRIANNA BURGESS | CREEK WOOD HS

Position: SG

Studying: Undecided

High School: Creek Wood HS

Club Team: Nashville Stars

Previous Coaches: Russell Wilson (HS), Tony McLeod (club)

Why Burgess chose Trevecca: "I chose Trevecca because I felt welcomed by everyone. Coach Booker & her staff made me feel at home! I'm excited to start this journey with them."

High School Notes: She was named All-District both her first and second years, District Tournament MVP her freshman, sophomore, and junior years, All-Region her first year, Region MVP her sophomore and junior years, as well as District MVP her junior year. She also reached over 1,000 career points by her sophomore season.

Her parents are Ben & Summer Burgess, and her siblings are Autumn, Cody, & Drew Burgess.

Trevecca just began the 2022-23 season with a new leader on the sideline, first-year coach Karen Booker. The former Vanderbilt University standout is leading the Trojans into the 30th season of women's basketball at Trevecca. Booker was an All-SEC performer and then moved into coaching with stops at all collegiate levels in the NCAA ranks. She was a former D1 and D3 head coach. Then spent a number of years as a collegiate official and worked with the SEC as an officials observer.
