Trevecca Nazarene University Men's Golf David Head Announces Three Signees to the 2023 Signing Class

David Head, the head coach of the Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team, is pleased to announce an initial three signees for the 2023 Trojan signing class. The three new Trojans to put on the Purple and White are Alfie Yearsley (Bolton School), Maddox Burton (Uplift North Hills Preparatory), and Luke Barrett (Lexington Christian Academy).

ALFIE YEARSLEY | BOLTON SCHOOL

Studying: Mathematics

High School/Previous College: Bolton School/ Lindsey Wilson College

Previous Coach: Steve Ingham

Why Alfie chose Trevecca: "I chose Trevecca to increase my athletic ability on the golf course, but also to improve my academics in the classroom. This is made possible by the fantastic facilities Trevecca has to offer and the premium location of campus."

High School/ Previous College notes: His 2021 Lindsey Wilson Invite lowest round was a 64, and he was part of the 2022 Lindsey Wilson invite all-tournament team. He reached the HMC foursomes regional finals while being a Hillside golf club team representative. He had a 2022 fall season scoring average of 71.67.

His parents are Michelle Yearsley and Edward Yearsley, and his brothers are George Yearsley, Henry Yearsley, and Freddie Yearsley.

Coach Head on Alfie: "I am super excited to bring Alfie in as a new member of the golf team. Alfie brings to our young roster some wonderful previous college golf experience. He is talented, focused, and ready to be a great player at Trevecca. I have no doubt that Alfie will have a significant impact on our golf program over the next two years."

MADDOX BURTON | UPLIFT NORTH HILLS PREPARATORY

Studying:  Sports Management

High School: Uplift North Hills Preparatory

Previous Coach: Cliff Mishler

Why did Maddox choose Trevecca: "Small school feel in the heart of a big city." 

High School Notes: He was a part of the National Honor Society and the A/B Honor roll. He was named the Men's outstanding golfer as well. He was a 3x District Champion, a 2021-22 Region 2 4A Champion, and a two-time state qualifier while having seven tournament rounds under par, including a bogey-free 68.

His parents are David and Sharon Burton.

Coach Head on Maddox: "Maddox is a bright young man, and he is focused on becoming an outstanding contributor to our golf program. He has beautiful golf swing and some valuable experience playing at the junior golf level. I am confident that Maddox will jump in when he arrives here on the hill and be ready to compete right away as a freshman. The future is bright for Maddox."

LUKE BARRETT | LEXINGTON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 

Major: Pastoral Studies

High School: Lexington Christian Academy

Previous Coaches: Eric Geldhof, Brian Ebel (HS), Tyrus York (swing)

Why Luke chose Trevecca: "The perfect size, location, and place to pursue my athletic goals while studying something I'm passionate about."

High School Notes: He was a member of the Beta Club and various leadership programs. He was on varsity all 4 years, and during his time, he was a 2022 team runner-up, a 4-time individual tournament champion, a GWJT Tour Champion competitor, was awarded the 2021 Christian Sportsmanship award, a 2021 Junior Barbasol Championship competitor, and a 2020-2022 Kentucky State Tournament Qualifier.

His parents are Barry and Nancy Barrett, and his sibling is Laci Barrett.

Coach Head on Luke: "Luke is a motivated and talented young golfer. He is big and strong and can hit a golf ball a long way. I know Luke is also focused on arriving here next fall and being ready to play right away as a freshman. I have no doubt he will have a bright career on the golf course during his time here at Trevecca."
