Trevecca Nazarene University Softball Ben Tyree Announces Two Signees to the 2023 Signing Class

Ben Tyree, the head coach of the Trevecca Nazarene University softball team, is pleased to announce two initial signees for the 2023 Trojan signing class. The two new Trojans to put on the Purple and White are Ashlynn Kovach (Murfreesboro, Tennessee) and Callie Williams (Griffin, Georgia).

ASHLYNN KOVACH MURFREESBORO, TENNESSEE

Studying: Exercise Science

Position: 1B/ OF

High School: Blackman High School

Previous Coaches: Rielly Anderson and Madison Taylor

Why Ashlynn chose Trevecca: "It has always been a dream of mine to play softball in college from the beginning of travel ball in 10u. However, there were certain values that were very important to me when choosing colleges of interest. Those values go beyond "does this University have a strong and competitive softball program?" I wanted a college that put Christ and education first. When I toured Trevecca and I saw that Jesus was at the center point of campus to symbolize Jesus being the center of your life, I knew that I found my home. Not only was I blessed to find a university with these values, I also found one with caring, knowledgeable, and positive coaches whom I cannot wait to grow my relationship with. I am so excited for these upcoming years with my new team, coaches, and family."

Coach Tyree on Ashlynn: "Ashlynn is someone that we came upon late in the recruiting process. But we feel that she landed at the right place at the right time. She has tons of experience at playing softball, but her Christian values speaks volumes about her and her family. We want to welcome her to the Middle Tennessee area and our family."

Her parents are Michelle and Chuck Kovach.

CALLIE WILLIAMS GRIFFIN, GEORGIA

Studying: Chemistry

Position: Catcher/ 1B

High School: Pike County High School

Travel Team: Firecrackers Mayfield

Previous Coaches: Kevin Mobley (HS), Sonny Mayfield (travel)

High School Notes: Was named to the Georgia All-State First Team.

Why Callie chose Trevecca: "I chose Trevecca because the first time I went on campus, I immediately knew that I was home. Nowhere else could compare to it."

Coach Tyree on Callie: "Callie made an impression on me the first Softball Camp she came too. She has made it back to Nashville every chance she can to watch us play. We are looking forward to having her on our team next fall and being a big part of our team. Taking her team to the Georgia State Tournament the last 2 years shows how hard she can compete and play at a high level."

Her parents are Jim and Michelle Williams, and her sibling is Alexis Williams.
