Fisk Women's Basketball player Maya Buckhanon (SR/Talladega, AL) earned the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, earning Buckahnon her third Player of the Week recognition this season.

The Fisk senior averaged 27 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocks in the Lady Bulldogs' first conference season opener against Oakwood University. "Maya's expectations are not only high for this team, but she also holds her accountable to achieve the goals she has set for herself," said Head Coach Victoria Crawford. "Her determination shows outside of our practices. I have walked into the gym multiple times and seen her put in extra work on conditioning and her individual skill set."

Buckhahon currently ranks third in the NAIA in rebounds per game and ninth overall in points per game. She currently holds the second spot in the GCAC in rebounds per game and is fourth in the conference in points per game.
