Rep. Mark Green has announced his support for a continuing resolution to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year, ahead of an impending funding deadline. In a statement released today, Rep. Green emphasized his commitment to keeping the government operational and highlighted several key provisions included in the bill.

"Today, I voted to keep our government open," he stated. The resolution is intended to provide Congressional Republicans with time to implement President Trump's agenda and commence work on fiscal year 2026.

The bill allocates $6 billion for the Toxic Exposures Fund aimed at treating veterans affected by service-related toxic exposures. Although Rep. Green acknowledged that this funding may not fully address all needs, he considers it "a step in the right direction." He referenced his previous efforts in Congress with the re-introduction of the K2 Veterans Total Coverage Act, which seeks to establish presumptions of service connections for diseases like cancer among veterans exposed to toxins at Karshi-Khanabad Air Base (K2).

In addition, Rep. Green highlighted increases in pay for junior enlisted servicemembers and funding allocated for completing 28 U.S. Navy ships and several Columbia Class submarines as part of efforts to bolster America's military capabilities.

The legislation also ensures uninterrupted payments for Social Security and Medicare beneficiaries.

Lastly, Rep. Green expressed support for measures within the resolution that enable continued efforts by the Trump administration to reduce national debt and control federal spending by identifying waste, fraud, and abuse within government operations. "President Trump is draining the swamp," he said, affirming his backing of these initiatives.
