Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green stated that the U.S. has seen a significant reduction in border apprehensions. Recent data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed a 95% decline in Southwest border apprehensions and an 88% decrease in nationwide border encounters in March 2025 compared to the same month last year.

"It sure is a breath of fresh air to have a president do what he said he would do," Green commented. "With Southwest border apprehensions hitting yet another record-low, law and order is at an all-time high."

Green credited the Trump administration for the drop in numbers, pointing to policies that ended catch-and-release and rescinded mass-parole programs implemented by the previous administration. He argued that these measures made communities safer and empowered federal law enforcement.

"Our borders are secure because the Trump administration has ended catch-and-release and rescinded the unlawful mass-parole programs implemented by the Biden-Harris administration," Green stated. "Our communities are safer because the Trump administration is removing violent criminals and dismantling the cartels’ business model."

The Chairman emphasized the need for Congress to support Trump's border security and enforcement agenda, arguing that it is essential for the safety of the homeland. "Under this administration’s leadership, the chaos and destruction of the Biden-Harris administration is a thing of the past," he stated, adding, "It is now Congress’ turn to do our duty and codify President Trump’s border security and enforcement agenda."

Green called on House Republicans to be unified and ready to act without delay. "There is no time to waste when it comes to securing the homeland, and the American people have already waited four long years," he concluded.
