Trevecca Nazarene University Women's Basketball Keeley Carter Selected Great Midwest Athlete of the Week

Keeley Carter is the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week. The Trevecca Nazarene University junior women's basketball player had another high-profile week.

The former TSSAA Miss Basketball award winner averaged 17.5 ppg with 6.5 rebounds for the week, shooting 63.6% (14-22) from the field, 80% (4-5) from three-point range, and went 3-3 from the foul line. The Macon County product added seven (7) assists, a block, and a steal. 

Her efforts helped the Purple and White to a 2-0 with memorable and historic wins. The Trojans faced Cedarville University first, defeating the Yellow Jackets 75-61, ending a 14-game win streak for CU in the series. Against Cedarville Carter was nearly perfect shooting - scored 19 w/ eight (8) rebounds shooting 7-of-8 from the field, 2-2 from three-point range, and 3-3 from the foul line. She added three (3) assists and a steal. 

Similarly, Ursuline College, had a long streak of success against the Trojans come to an end. UC had won 10 of the last 11 meetings with TNU. The Trojans stopped the Arrows 76-60. Carter continued her hot shooting, scoring 16 with seven (7) rebounds shooting 7-14 (50%) from the field and 2-3 from beyond the three-point arc. She added four (4) assists and a block. 

The Karen Booker-coached Trojans are tied for third in the league and have reached six overall wins and three conference wins as fast as any team has in the NCAA Division II Era. In Karen Booker's first season, the Trojans have already surpassed last season's win total.

The Trojans (6-4, 3-1 Great Midwest) return to action two more times before the Christmas Break. They visit Malone University (6-3, 3-1 Great Midwest) on Saturday and No. 3 Ashland University (10-0, 4-0 Great Midwest) on Monday. Get the links to follow at www.tnutrojans.com.
