Fisk University Lady Bulldogs five game winning streak comes to an end against #25 Rust College

The #25 ranked Rust College Bearcats ended the Lady Bulldogs' five-game conference winning streak with an on-the-road contest (65-71) at host school SUNO. As a result, the Lady Bulldogs slip to 10-6 (5-2 GCAC), while Rust College improves to a 13-3 (7-0 GCAC) record. 

Senior Maya Buckhanon (SR/Talladega, AL) led the Lady Bulldog offense with a team-high of 21 points while adding 15 rebounds. Mya Allen (SR/Kansas City, KS,) rated second on the offense with 15 points and four assists, while point guard Daigeona Guinn (SO/Jackson, MI) put up 12 points on the day. Newcomer Anayah Davis followed up with ten rebounds.  Fisk University jumped to an early lead in the first quarter, but the Lady Bearcats fought back to tie up the game. Rust College would then take over the momentum earning a 41-37 lead over the Lady Bulldogs. Both teams battled back and forth until the end of the game, where Rust edged out Fisk 71-65. 

The Lady Bulldogs come off a five-game GCAC winning streak in conference play and currently holding the #2 spot in the conference rankings.  The Lady Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 pm at Simmons College of Kentucky.
