Fisk Women's Basketball player Maya Buckhanon (SR/Talladega, AL) earned the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday, earning Buckhanon her seventh Player of the Week recognition this season and fifth consecutive week in a row, another first for any Fisk university athlete in the GCAC. 

Another impressive week for the Lady Bulldogs, for going undefeated 3-0 in conference play at the Tougaloo GCAC Pod. Buckhanon was an on-court leader and presence for the Fisk Women's Basketball squad leading the team with 54 points on the weekend. Averaging 13.7 rebounds a game, Buckhanon closed the weekend with 41 rebounds.

This week, Buckhahon jumped up a first-place ranking in the NAIA in rebounds per game. In addition, she still currently holds the #1 spot in the GCAC in points per game, rebounds per game, and field goal percentage.
