United States Senator Bill Hagerty recently appeared on CNN's "The Source with Kaitlan Collins" to discuss his views on the perceived double standards in media coverage and government actions regarding President Donald Trump's cabinet appointments. During the interview, Hagerty addressed what he described as the Democrats' misuse of governmental power against Trump.
Hagerty commented on Trump's selection of Matt Gaetz, stating, "President Trump is fully entitled to put forward whomever he wants, particularly when you think about this Department of Justice." He referred to past investigations during Trump's first term, including the 'Russiagate' inquiry, which he labeled a "Democrat funded dossier" and a "fake dossier."
He further criticized actions surrounding the Hunter Biden laptop incident, describing it as a significant misuse of the DOJ. According to Hagerty, Tony Blinken orchestrated a letter with intelligence experts claiming Russian disinformation was involved. This information was reportedly used by social media platforms to suppress details affecting election outcomes.
Hagerty also highlighted what he sees as ongoing issues with the DOJ under President Biden's administration. He cited instances where federal agents allegedly harassed parents at school board meetings and failed enforcement related to protests at Supreme Court justices' homes. He concluded that these actions reflect a "highly political partisan DOJ," asserting that Trump should appoint individuals who can address these concerns.
