United States Senator Bill Hagerty introduced Stephen A. Feinberg, President Donald Trump's nominee for Deputy Secretary of Defense, at a Senate Armed Services Committee confirmation hearing. Feinberg is known for his previous roles as co-founder and co-CEO of Cerberus Capital Management and as chair of President Trump’s Intelligence Advisory Board from 2018 to 2021.

Senator Hagerty shared his experience working with Feinberg during his tenure as U.S. Ambassador to Japan. He recounted their efforts to prevent the acquisition of Hanjin Shipyard in Subic Bay by Chinese firms, emphasizing the strategic importance of the location. "Thanks to leadership from the Trump Administration and Steve Feinberg and his team, we succeeded," Hagerty stated.

Feinberg's involvement extended beyond this project, as he also worked on countering China's influence in 5G telecommunications by investing in alternatives to Huawei. "Steve recognized a strategic challenge to the United States and has sought to counter and minimize the influence and access that China could gain," Hagerty noted.

Hagerty praised Feinberg's qualifications, highlighting his leadership skills and strategic vision. "Steve understands the mission," he said, expressing confidence in Feinberg's ability to improve operations at the Defense Department if confirmed.

The senator concluded by expressing eagerness for Feinberg's testimony and supporting his nomination process.
