Rep. Mark Green has announced that Rep. Nikema Williams will serve as the new co-chair of the Congressional Colorectal Cancer Caucus. In a statement, Rep. Green expressed his enthusiasm for Williams' appointment, noting her dedication to supporting individuals affected by colorectal cancer.

"I am thrilled to announce that Rep. Williams will serve as co-chair of the Congressional Colorectal Cancer Caucus," said Rep. Green. He highlighted her advocacy work, drawing attention to her personal experience as a caretaker for her mother during her battle with colorectal cancer.

Rep. Green also shared his perspective as a survivor of both colorectal and thyroid cancer, emphasizing his understanding of the challenges faced by those fighting the disease. "I am confident of Rep. Williams’ commitment to joining me as an advocate on their behalf in Congress," he stated.

The announcement also paid tribute to the late Rep. Donald Payne Jr., who previously served as co-chair alongside Green before his passing. "Rep. Payne’s legacy of fighting for colorectal cancer patients left an indelible mark on me, this caucus, and thousands of people affected by this disease," noted Green.

Looking ahead, Rep. Green expressed his anticipation for working with Williams to enhance awareness about colorectal cancer: "I look forward to working alongside Rep. Williams as we promote awareness of this life-altering diagnosis."
