Tennessee State University enrolls 6,121 undergrads

At Tennessee State University, 79 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 62 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Nashville enrolled 7,774 students in fall 2018, including 6,121 in undergraduate and 1,653 in graduate programs, data shows. 8.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

37 percent of undergraduates are residents of Tennessee, and 62 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (75 percent) and white (12 percent).
