Vanderbilt University Chatman Signs Professional Contract

After earning his master’s degree from Vanderbilt over the summer, former men’s basketball student-athlete Rodney Chatman is set to continue his career at the professional level.

Chatman has signed a contract with Team FOG Naestved in the Basketligaen, the highest professional league in Denmark. The team will begin play on Sept. 22, with the regular season running through the middle of February.

“We are excited about the opportunity for Rodney to begin his professional career. He cares deeply about winning and will help Team FOG Naestved compete at a high level,” Commodore head coach Jerry Stackhouse said. “As the first graduate transfer during our tenure, I am equally proud of Rodney that he earned his Vanderbilt master’s degree in his one season with us.”

In his lone season at Vandy, Chatman averaged 7.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest, recording 25 assists and 13 steals while posting a positive assist-to-turnover ratio. He helped lead the Dores to the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament and a final overall record of 19-17.

Chatman is the second Commodore to join the professional ranks since the end of last season after fellow guard Scotty Pippen Jr. signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in June.
