The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf teams' season begins Monday (September 12) at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational in Calera, Alabama. The two-day tournament hosted by the University of Montevallo puts the Trojans on the links for the first time since last spring's season saw them advance to the NCAA Division II Super Regional.
2022-23 PREVIEW
ROSTER
With legendary, five-year standout Blain Turner graduated from the program, the Trojans look to fresh faces to lead the squad this fall. However, fresh faces are at a premium, as with Turner and senior Jonah Manning not back, Alex Hamm comprises the entire freshman class this season.
Benjamin Ramos returns to begin graduate school as well as Matthew Jeffe and Ben Yehle are entering their senior season. Devin Speight is the lone junior and the trio of Josh Breland, Zane Johnson, and Jack Kenmare make up the sophomore class.
Devin Speight owns the seventh lowest career scoring average in program history heading into the season. He also owns the sixth most par or better rounds in Trojan history with 11. Speight finished third overall at the NCAA D2 Midwest/Central regional with a 68-75-73=216. Shot a 67 at the Great Midwest Championships, one of the top 10 rounds in program history.
Ramos had his career-best season average last year, coming in at a 75.19 average. He had two rounds in the 60's including a career-low 68. He played fourth at last year's Full Moon BBQ Invitational.
