Coming off a tough homecoming battle, the Fisk Men's Basketball team held off Dalton State College to earn their first home win 66-58 in the Henderson A Johnson Gym on Monday.
The Bulldogs jumped ahead early and maintained both composure and control of the entire game. Junior transfer Jayden Lockett (JR/Nashville, TN) had a game-high of 16 points. While freshman Justin McNelkin added 15 points. "The team bounced back coming off our homecoming game on Saturday," said Head Coach Kenny Anderson. "I was impressed with McNelkin's performance on Monday night. He's young and has been in different roles for us this season, but he stepped up, played hard, and got the job done. Getting that first win of the season, especially at home, is always special."
The Bulldogs maintained a solid 10-point lead until the game's final seconds finalizing the win over the Road Runners. Both teams met earlier in the season on November 3rd, resulting in a 61-55 final score in favor of Dalton State.
The Bulldogs will travel north after the Thanksgiving holiday to face Wilberforce on Saturday, November 26th.
