The Bulldogs snap a five-game losing streak to claim the first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) victory of the 2022-23 season, defeating Oakwood University 66-61. The mid-week match-up was the first game of the new year and the season's home opener for GCAC conference play.
Sophomore Jamon Reed (SO/Birmingham, AL.), Fisk's returning "GCAC Freshman of the Year," led the Bulldog offense with 16 points. Reed also added five rebounds and two assists. Senior Ethan Jones (SR/Memphis, TN), with fourteen, and Junior Michael Ashley (JR/Atlanta, GA), who added twelve, were the leading rebounders for the Bulldogs. Tyon Thompson (SO/Cincinnati, OH) and Jaylen Rogers (JR/Chicago, IL) contributed eleven points each to the Bulldog win.
The Oakwood triumph moves the Bulldogs to a 1-0 in the GCAC and 2-6 overall on the season.
