Trevecca Nazarene University baseball (4-7) defeated the University of Illinois Springfield (8-4), 6-2, at Rose Park, the home field of the Belmont University Bruins. The games were moved due to wind damage to Jackson Field on the Trevecca campus.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

HOW IT HAPPENED

The starting pitchers controlled the game through the first two innings. In the top of the third, UIS scratched a run across the plate on Trojan starter Elijah Pleasants.

In the bottom of the frame, Andru Becker reached on a one-out bunt single. He scored a few pitches later on a Joey Parliment triple. Parliment scored on a wild pitch to put the Trojans up 2-1.

The score held until the bottom of the sixth when the Trojans plated four runs. Josh Griffin and Paxton Hughes both singled to start the inning. David Milam walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Griffin and moved Hughes and Milam up a bag. A fielder's choice by Shawn Wallwork scored Hughes. Logan West singled to drive in Milam. Andru Becker finished the scoring with an RBI single that scored Wallwork. The Trojans led 6-1.

The Prairie Stars scored a run in the top of the ninth, but it wasn't enough as Elijah Pleasants pitched the complete game.
