Lipscomb University Women's Golf Finishes as Runner-Up at Jackrabbit Invitational

Lipscomb Women's Golf had yet another successful tournament with a Runner-Up finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Tuesday. The squad turned in a 286-290-295 (+7) over three rounds to finish second in a tough field of 14. 

 

Mary Kate Smith had a spectacular outing and tied for fourth place in a field of 79. Smith opened the tournament with a statement, turning in a 69 (-3) to lead the field. She carded a 71 and 75 in the second and third rounds, respectively to finish the tournament with a 215 (-1). Smith finished second in the field in par 4 scoring, averaging 3.93 while leading the field with 41 pars to go along with seven birdies.

 

Siarra Stout was strong again for the Bisons with a sixth-place finish. She carded a 72 and 73 in the first two rounds before turning in a clutch 71 after the final 18 holes to pull even with par and improve seven spots. Stout was impressive in her par 5s, averaging 5.48. She led Lipscomb in birdies with nine and had 34 pars. In addition, she had Lipscomb's only eagle of the competition. 

 

Lauren Thompson utilized a strong final two rounds to finish tied for 12th place. In her first round, she shot a 75 and followed that round with a 73. In her final round, Thompson finished even with par (72) to improve 16 spots. Thompson was steady with 37 pars and turned in seven birdies. 

 

Mia Seeman and Ally Williams rounded out Lipscomb's team scoring. Seeman finished tied for 27th overall with a 75-75-77 (+9). Williams tied for 37th in the field. She had a great first round (70), but a tough final two rounds (77-81) saw her fall several spots. 

 

Tzunami Polito competed as an individual and had a solid tournament, finishing tied for 27th. In her first round, Polito turned in a 78, but found her stride with a 73 and 74 in the final two rounds, respectively to finish with a 225 (+9). 

 

HERD NOTES

  • Lipscomb had the most pars on the tournament with 183, 12 more than any other team. 
  • The Bisons were top-three in par 3 scoring, par 4 scoring and par 5 scoring. 


UP NEXT

Lipscomb will round out its regular season at the Georgia State Spring Invitational on March 27-28. The tournament will be held in Atlanta, Ga. And the Rivermont Golf Club.
