Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green issued a statement in response to President Donald Trump's signing of executive orders related to border security and enforcement.
Chairman Green expressed strong support for the actions taken by President Trump, stating, “Nothing exemplifies a new day in America more than President Trump’s unwavering commitment to border security and restoring enforcement of our nation’s laws." He highlighted key measures such as strengthening the border wall system, ending catch-and-release policies, and reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy as steps to regain control over U.S. borders from criminal cartels.
Green also emphasized the importance of these executive orders for law enforcement agencies: “Following four long years of historic chaos and dangerous threats from transnational criminal organizations, our Border Patrol agents, CBP officers, and ICE officers will once again have the tools they need to accomplish their essential, life-saving missions.”
He concluded by noting that the executive orders represent "a restoration of American sovereignty at our borders," adding that his committee is prepared to collaborate with the Trump administration and other relevant committees to enhance public safety and homeland security.
