About 30.4 percent of the 1,993 degrees and certificates handed out by Belmont University in 2017-18 were to students in visual and performing arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Nashville conferred 590 bachelor's degrees and 15 master's degrees in visual and performing arts programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in music management. Data shows the school gave out 291 bachelor's degrees in music management, followed by 151 bachelor's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse and 92 bachelor's degrees in general arts, entertainment,and media management.

The university enrolled 8,260 students for 2017-18, including 6,666 in undergraduate programs and 1,594 in graduate programs.
