AUSTIN, TX—United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Appropriations, Banking, and Foreign Relations Committees and former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, joined Kudlow on Fox Business to discuss President Joe Biden’s economic policies and the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

Hagerty criticized Biden's economic policies: “I think the American public can see right through what Joe Biden is trying to claim here. The blame for this lays squarely at his feet. And for him to be out touting his economic program, talking about how great it is, I think it’s just a shock to the American public who can see the results are everything but that."

He further stated that massive stimulus measures have driven inflation, which in turn has led to increased interest rates by the Federal Reserve. "You think about it: [$870] billion this year will be spent on interest, servicing the interest on our debt. That’s larger than the $805 billion defense budget that we’ve got," he added.

Comparing Trump’s and Biden’s policies, Hagerty said: “It’s a simple question, and I think Joe Biden fails it every single time when people ask themselves here in America: Am I better off under Joe Biden than I was under Donald Trump? Clearly, Donald Trump’s policies led to a far more robust American economy.”

On illegal immigration, Hagerty commented: “The infrastructure’s collapsing under the weight of all this illegal migration. You think about what’s happening to the hospital system, to our schools... It’s collapsing our state and municipal governments."

Discussing foreign policy, Hagerty asserted: “[The Biden Administration] just reverted to the failed policies of [President] Barack Obama. President Trump had it right... What’s the Biden Administration’s plan? They look the other way on sanctions enforcement.”

Regarding Trump's legal challenges, Hagerty described them as politically motivated: “This trial has been a mockery of the American justice system... We’ve never had an American President indicted... all with a very clear motive. And that’s to beat a person on the judicial field because they can’t beat him at the ballot box.”

He expressed concern over Americans losing faith in justice institutions: “Republicans respect law and order David, and this is anything but that... The weaponization that’s taken place though here in New York, Georgia, D.C., it’s a travesty and we’ve got to get it back in order.”

Finally, Hagerty emphasized political motivations behind prosecuting Trump: “They’ve manipulated and controlled these trials; they’re doing it strictly for electoral purposes. It’s all political and it’s making our nation look like a banana republic.”
